Vista beta 2 is here, and has been here for more than a month, released to the public on June 5th (I think). If you have used vista tell us about it.
I have had Vista running. What I did was I got Daemon tools, and installed it without burning the disc, and then after the process, you restart, and you will see a bootloader (which, if you have to reinstall Windows XP, 98, or wutever you have when you did the Vista install, then you will lose your bootloader and will not be able to boot into Vista, even with a booting program). And after that, the hard part is finding drivers. I had just gotten a new graphic card, which I took back for various reasons, and it didn't support Vista, er vice versa I mean. But now that I have a mobo with a gpu and soundcard, i will be able to finally see (Aero Glass) and hear the full Vista experience, soon as I get my comp fixed as seen in the "YOu could cook an egg on my angered forehead" post.
So, just talk about your general experience, and tell us some cool things you have done in Vista (Like the Start -> Search thing, which is the most amazing, awesome, coolest, most useful thing to come to Windows, in my opinion)

It's pretty good. Not much changed since the original beta releases. But it works really well. I love that whole "SEARCH" thing, very helpful when looking for a prog in a hurry. The interface (as I said before) is nice, although I couldn't see Aero in full swing, but in a week I might!!!

Re: Vista Beta 2 Users post here!
from my intel with microsoft (OFFICIAL beta testing ) the public release has 2 downsides:
1. Includes a "Time-Bomb", meaning you can only use it for a little while
2. Features are LIMITED, you do not have all access (note the size differece)
The search feature:
On the start meny, there is a search bar right under the new strart menu (which I hate). It's like a quick link to XP's search feature.

Re: Vista Beta 2 Users post here!
Timebomb... Yeah, that is true. The "bomb" or trial time goes out a year after you get the beta, around June next year, so I think we have anough time to play around with it.
Limited features. I haven't noticed anything as far as this. Then again, it may mean server wise or sumthin like that. But I can surf the net, download files, run programs from Win Xp, I can do anything I do in windows, except gaming.
-If you worried about surfin the net using Vista, it has a built in Virus software, but not very good. Go fo the (I honestly don't know what it is called, but you can find it on C-Net search) and they give you free antivirus for Vista Beta 2 for that whole year you can use it, they have hourly updates, and are really good from what I hear.Live life to the fullest. Just looked for a screenshot of the search thing, looks an eye soar more than anything.

Re: Vista Beta 2 Users post here!
Yeah, I kno about that. I have to install Windows once in a while, and I never got that 30 activiation until just recently. I have my key, but it doesn't work, maybe becuase it's from eMachines' so I'm gonn have to call them to get my key, it's on the back of my old machine, but it doesn't work, then again, then sent me new restore CDs so that may be the problem, or it could be the hardware, but I just can't see how.
The search thing, the one in the Start menu? Where you press the button formally known as start, and there is a little search bar and you put in lets say Adobe, and all of Adobe programs show up, or lets say Office, then all ur programs with Office show up, or you put in Family Vactaion, and your video of your family vacation will show up. It's so cool. No searching for files, now that everything does it for me.Live life to the fullest. Even if full is over 3.75 a gallon! Re: Vista Beta 2 Users post here!
Finally decided to install vista yesterday, to see what the fuss is about, look at it this way, the partition is now formatted back.
It was a copy of Vista RC2 that i got, and at first i have to say i was impressed, nice easy install, and quick. When it loaded up the first thing that hit me was i think it just looks like a Mac/Linux/XP mash. Nothing unique really, it did look nice though, so i went about installin some of my old programs from XP, and i started to get problems straight away, i installed fruity loops, and after it installed no shortcuts or anything where made, just the files copied, not a big problem just an annoyance, i couldnt use hibernate, it would freeze when i try to reboot, Sometimes i had to reboot because it would run slow and jumpy, and something would constantly be working in the background, eating up around 50% of my cpu ( and i have a 3.6Ghz P4 [ht]) i didn't have aero installed, so i started to get pretty annoyed with it to be honest and just wiped it off, i know its only a beta, but its a beta at its final stage,so it should be better than this really. I have another copy installed under Vmware in Ubuntu, just to play with.
