LG Enlighten is a new release by Verizon to help provide solutions to individuals who live in areas not supported by Verizon's 4G LTE network. Operating on a slimmer version of Android Gingerbread, the Enlighten provides a straightforward experience for those who are looking for a new, basic smartphone that does not cost a fortune. Currently, the LG Enlighten is available via Verizon for $79.99 with a two-year contract.
Specifications
The LG Enlighten is a rather heavy phone, weighing approximately 5.5 ounces. The 3.2” TFT LCD display with a 320x480 resolution is a bit smaller than other phones, but considering its price it is reasonable. Internal memory is miniscule at 150MB, but the device comes with a 2GB SD memory card installed that can be expanded up to 32GB. The battery allows an impressive six hours of talk time or 550 hours of standby time.
The LG Enlighten can function as a mobile hotspot, hosting up to five devices for web browsing. A micro-USB port allows for charging and entering mass storage mode. The QWERTY keyboard allows easy typing and is spring-loaded, which provides quick access. The keys on the pad, however, are packed together and can cause cramping after a few minutes of continuous use. A 3MP camera provides the ability to take pictures, while night mode helps snap a photo even in dark conditions.
Conclusion
All in all, the LG Enlighten is not a phone for tech-savvy or advanced users but does provide a good experience for new or basic phone users. A low entry price and access to existing 3G networks makes this a economic choice for individuals living in areas with less-developed wireless infrastructure.
